Welcome to the second edition of Premier Guarantee’s Technical Times, in which we will bring you more technical articles, updates and case studies from our in-house Technical Team.

In this edition, we offer guidance on stair width requirements for communal flats, with reference to both fire-fighting stairs and non-fire-fighting stairs.

Following on from the Edition 1 article Horizontal Cavity Trays Over Horizontal Roof Abutments, this time round we look at preformed lintel cavity trays, with particular focus on critical locations within low rise cavity masonry walls.

Next, we have a Claims Learning article, relating to the reroofing of a conversion project. This articles focuses on poorly designed box gutters and substandard workmanship, resulting in the ingress of water.

Our fourth article looks at the often incorrect installation of gable end lateral restraint straps, providing a refresher on Part A of the Building Regulations BS8103.

Finally, we’ve got a case study on Talo Elements who, using state-of-the-art technology and modern offsite construction techniques, provide bespoke housing solutions that are high quality, low energy and cost efficient.

We hope you enjoy your second edition of the Technical Times and find the articles useful and relevant. If there are any topics you’d like to see covered in future editions, or if you’re a Premier Guarantee registered builder, developer or approved manufacturer and would like to feature in a case study, please email marketing@premierguarantee.co.uk with the subject ‘Technical Times’.

Enjoy your summer and see you soon for Edition 3 of the Technical Times.
