This is your first edition of Technical Times; a new, quarterly, digital publication through which we will bring you a selection of articles, updates and case studies from our in-house Technical Team.

Ed. 1 of Technical Times includes a case study on Elements Europe, a large modular manufacturer based in the West Midlands. We detail their full modular solution offering, including windows and doors, M&E, decoration, carpets and more, all completed in their factory.

As well as this, our update on the combustible materials ban in high-rise buildings provides a comprehensive overview to regulatory changes and amendments made by the government to the approved documents affecting high rise residential buildings.

Also included in the first edition is an article that looks at the compatibility issues of CPVC pipework used in sprinkler systems, with particular emphasis on damage suffered due to the sensitivity of certain materials used in overall installation.

Focusing on Chapter 7 of our Technical Manual, our article on horizontal cavity trays on horizontal roof abutments will hopefully refresh your knowledge on a simple, yet vitally important, element of general building.

Finally, there is an update on EWI (External Wall Insulation), in response to certain Local Authority Building Control departments advising Developers to avoid using polystyrene based EWI systems on developments ‘below 18m’.

We’re sure you’ll find the articles useful and of interest. If there are any subjects in particular you would like our in-house Technical Team to be write about, please email marketing@premierguarantee.co.uk with the subject ‘Technical Times’.

See you for Ed. 2 of Technical Times.
